Miss-iss-ippi: Week 2

Hello again!

Joe and I are doing well and hope that you all are the same!  Currently, we are still in temporary housing on base.  We were told our house would be available to move into on July 30th (my birthday).  We chose to live on base to get a feel for what it is like.  We’re praying that our move-in date miraculously becomes this Friday, since Joe will have this Friday off from work.  Otherwise, on my birthday, I will be the strong woman that I am and take as many boxes in my car with as many trips as possible until he is off work and can rent a U Haul vehicle to get the rest.

Throughout the last week, we attempted to make ourselves familiar to the base and surrounding area.  We particularly enjoy the Gulfport, MS area.  Joe’s birthday happened to be last week so we ventured out to this area and ate at Long Horn Steakhouse.  Last Friday, we also celebrated me passing my board by eating at a local seafood restaurant called the White Cap.

The beaches here are not like the beaches on the Gulf side in Florda.  The waves are miniature and the water is slightly murky.  However, the sand is as white as can be.  In some parts of the Gulf, Joe and I can walk a quarter of a mile out into the water and still have the water below our knees.  Most spots on the beaches have kayaks, jet skis, etc. to use in the water.  Joe is particularly fond of the jet skis and I imagine he will rent one by the time he is finished with his training.

Exciting news: I have a job interview next Tuesday for a position I’m highly interested in at a hospital.  I’m praying that if God wants me to have the position that the door will be opened and that if He has something better planned that the door will be closed.

This past Sunday, Joe and I visited a church around the local area.  We feel it’s a cross between Glezen and the Remedy which is something we were looking for.  Thus, we are going to attend the Wednesday night service and Sunday service once more in hopes that God will help show us if that is where we need to be.

I’m hopeful that next week when I write I will have much more exciting news to share until then there are two things you could help us pray for: 1) Our housing date to move up; 2) We find good friends to share experiences with.  Hope you all have a great week!  Miss and love you all!
